Informative Writing Rubric, Student-friendly!

This rubric helps students understand what is expected of them. It also makes grading easier and more objective. I've used and refined this rubric to teach my fourth graders and to grade their writing. The rubric criteria begin with sentences such as "Your writing..." or "You wrote" and avoids negative language as well as jargon. Every aspect of writing is clearlyexplained so students know exactly what they need to do in order to improve. You can choose to score the rubric in one of three ways.
